The official boater license test will be temporarily unavailable from 7:30 AM until 12:30 PM (half past noon) today, Saturday, February 24. Note: You can still sign up and study the free official course during this period and then write the test this afternoon.

To obtain a Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) online, you must pass the official online PCOC exam.

To qualify to write the online PCOC exam (which is open book and unsupervised), you must first complete the free official online PCOC course. Only the online PCOC course qualifies you to write the official online PCOC exam since your progress through the online course can be recorded as proof that you qualify to write the online PCOC exam.

For those who wish to also have a hard copy of the course (in addition to completing the online version of the course), we are providing downloadable files of the print version of the course (see below). A reminder: Reading the print version of the course does NOT qualify you to write the online PCOC exam. Only completion of the online PCOC course qualifies you to write the online PCOC exam.

Wear It!

Failure to wear a flotation device is the leading contributing factor in boating fatalities. When on the water, the single-most important thing that you can do to prevent drowning is to always wear a properly adjusted PFD or lifejacket of appropriate type, size, and fit.
